- Suspension of 5 mg M. butyricum in a mixture of paraffin oil and an emulsifying agent
- Use Incomplete Freund adjuvant to avoid the use of acid-fast bacilli; however, the antibody response is not as marked as with the complete adjuvant
- Once injected, they provide a pool of emulsified antigen at the injection site and allow the antigen to be released over an extended period of time
